Scarlett says "Feed Me!"
No major events today. Grayson had many desats today but pulled himself out of most of them. Definitely nothing like yesterday. They put him on albuterol, but I'm not 100% why. I missed rounds but Trish didn't remember hearing about it. I noticed his heart rate was faster than normal when I arrived at the hospital and asked why. The nurse was able to explain he was on albuterol, that they use it to treat other things than asthma, and that it can make his heart rate speed up.
Scarlett did great today. My highlight was to hear her cry out. I held her for almost 3 hours, and then sat up so we could put her back. She cried out but it was only for a brief second. I would like to think she knew that our time was coming to an end and was trying to protest :-)
Tomorrow will be a huge day as Grayson is getting his echo done. His PDA might be the reason why his lungs are struggling. If his PDA has grown larger, we will probably be transferred to the main campus of Nationwide Children's Hospital in anticipation of surgery to repair it. If it is the same, there are several different ways the doctors may want to treat it, but there is no telling if any of them will work. Most of the time these are treated withing the first 14 days, and some doctor's don't expect the non-surgical options to be effective this far along. Please pray that his PDA has closed or is smaller and that God will provide wisdom to the doctors about next steps.
He is also getting a head ultrasound. I am afraid that he's had more brain damage, but his head has not grown, so I don't expect that will create an emergency situation. If his fluid were to build up he would go to Main Campus for a shunt.
Here are their week 5 photos from Saturday:
Grayson wants you to know he is 5 weeks old!
He was worn out. I think he was dreaming of the Buckeyes winning the B1G Championship!
Kung Fu Scarlett
Just getting a mani/pedi at the day spa on Mars
I love when you are feeling better because some of your captions crack me up. I think "Kung Fu Scarlett" takes over my top spot from "Drama Queen" (my previous favorite)!
ReplyDeleteGod, we thank you for a better day for Grayson. And though I know we have been pestering you a lot, like a loving Father I know you will not mind if we continue to beg for favors. We have so many thinks to ask on Grayson's behalf. Please let his PDA have become even just a little smaller to show the doctors you have this one under control without surgery. Also please let the ultrasound show there is nothing additional in his brain to worry about. He is such a little fighter but he desperately needs your help. Infuse your wisdom in the medical personnel so they follow the best course of action to help Grayson heal and move forward. Please bring Tricia and Tim the comfort and strength they need to help them on this journey with their children. They are proving themselves to be "tested by fire but come out safe" and their love for Scarlett and Grayson demonstrates itself every single day. I am not forgetting to thank you for another good day for Scarlett. Your miracles abound and forgive us for asking for a few more for Grayson.
Mary, we know how strong the bonds are between a mother and her son. Please, we beg you to intercede with Jesus for little Grayson. Ask him to allow the echocardiogram and ultrasounds to show signs of improvement so this sweet baby will not have to undergo surgery. And thank you, God, that he didn't have any serious breathing issues like on Saturday. Please continue to watch over the twins and their parents today and everyday.
I NOT A MEDICAL EXPERT- just a mom with experience with albuterol
ReplyDeleteThey put him on albuterol, but I'm not 100% why-
I am sure they will explain more- but it can be used to open the air ways and allow for easier breathing.
Many, many prayers and thank you for all the amazing pictures. Today my prayers will focus on the tests today and praying for healing for Grayson's sweet little head. May God continue to keep you and Trish and the babies and Ethan in the palm of his hand.
Thank you, Jesus, for prayers for healing answered. Keep the healing process going and bless both babies and parents. Cover them all with your love. We trust in you and thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lord for your endless miracles!!! So proud of the strong little ones doing so well! God is Good!!!! So many prayers and hugs coming to you. You have been on our prayer list at church and I am having people personally praying and asking about you all! Love you!
ReplyDeleteFirst chance I've had to read the blog for the day, but my thoughts have been with you all while driving back from SC. We will be praying for each baby's specific needs. As usual, we flee to the protection of Mother Mary, who is holding these babies close to Her own heart. Asking God for strength and grace for the moment. Once again, thank you for the wonderful pictures and thank you for sharing with us every day. Love to all of you.
